What are the new restrictions and what are the risks of non-compliance with government guidelines?

Well, from Wednesday, 25/03/2020, the Polish government introduced the so-called obligation to stay at home. What does this mean in practice? It is means, that it is forbidden to leave your home unless it is particularly necessary.

What kind of necessity of leaving home can it be? First of all, the ban does not apply to traveling to work and returning home from work. If you are an employee or run your own business and you cannot work remotely and have to get to work – it is not a violation, you have the right to get to your work. You also have the right to buy goods and services related to your professional activity.

Since we already have touched an issue of shopping, it should be mentioned, that the next exclusion from this prohibition is the need to settle matters necessary for everyday life. So, if you need to do the necessary shopping, buy medicine, go to the doctor, to the post office or just go for a short walk so that you don’t ‘go crazy within four walls’ – you also can do it.

Here it’s important to remind about the total ban on assemblies. If you have to leave the house for a moment, say for a short walk, do not gather in a group of more than 2 people. From now on you can receive a fine of PLN 5,000 for such a meeting. Additional restrictions have been introduced in public transport – from now on a bus/trolley bus may have no more passengers than 50% of seats. Therefore, if there are 50 seats in the city bus – it can take no more than 25 passengers on board.

Although the movement ban has a whole range of exemptions, you shouldn’t abuse those and in fact #zostanwdomu – maybe this way you can save someone’s life. It is planned, that the ban will be on until April 11, 2020, but it is not excluded that it will be extended – it all depends on the epidemic situation of COVID-19 in Poland.

The situation with COVID-19 in Poland is developing very dynamically, which is why we encourage you to follow the events on a regular basis.
