First of all, the most popular form of flat bread is pita. Pita is the type of flat wheat bread coming from the Middle East. During baking, the bread is growing as much as it is great to put some filling inside. This kind of bread is used in many Arabic countries as the part of a meal served with some sauce, in Turkey for their kebabs and in Greece for their gyros. Nowadays, it is very popular in fast food and kebab restaurants.

Secondly, tortilla is another type of bread used in fast food restaurants. However, we have to mention that Spanish tortilla is slightly different type of meal looking as an omelet. In Mexico, tortilla is some kind of chips similar to nachos. Tortilla as bread is a flat and soft pancake made of wheat (burrito) or corn (tacos). In Poland it is used for kebabs, sandwiches or toasts.

The special kind of flat bread is also Jewish matzo. This is the crispy, flat bread roasted in the fire. This is typical bread prepared for Jewish holy days.

Last but not least, the Polish cuisine has its own Flatbread. The history of this bread comes from ancient times of Slavians. The flat bread made of wheat, water and salt was baked on stone in the fire. The traditional bread should be roasted on metal plate lying on a bake.  However, people say that it is possible to bake this bread on a frying pan. It looks like really flat pita, but it is crispy. It can be eaten as normal bread because it used to be the only bread eaten in Poland years ago. In Polish shops podpłomyki can be found also as thin and crunchy waffles which are really sweet and delicious with fruit jam.

To sum up, there are many types of flat bread. It contains the same products but it tastes differently. Some is crispy, some is soft. Some is big and easy to roll, some is small not for rolling.
