Polish Government Scholarships

The Polish Government grants scholarships based on bilateral agreements to students and trainees. Scholarship holders are exempt from university fees. The annual seat limits are defined by international agreements. The scholarship is awarded for individual years of study, for a period no longer than the duration of the given studies or training specified by the University Senate.

Minister of Science and Higher Education Scholarships

According to the Act of 27 July 2005 Law on Higher Education, students can apply for the following benefits awarded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education:
– social scholarship – is awarded to students who are in a difficult financial situation;
– a rector’s scholarship for the best students – a student who can achieve a high average of grades for a year of study or has a scientific, artistic or high-performance score in international or national competition;
– special scholarship for disabled people – is awarded to students who have a recognized degree of disability;
– random payment.

Kosciuszko Foundation Scholarships

The Foundation grants scholarships to young people and scientists from Poland and the USA, manages scientific exchange, and conducts information and popularization activities in the field of Polish culture and science. The awarded scholarship includes funds for subsistence and additional funds for science and research. The scholarship is intended for students and scientists who are citizens of the United States.

Semper Polonia Scholarships

The scholarship program of the SEMPER POLONIA Foundation is addressed to young people of Polish descent who study in their countries of residence.

The purposes of the scholarship program established as part of the Foundation are:
– educational and professional activation of Poles and people of Polish descent who live outside of Poland;
– the use of skills and experience of educated young people of Polish origin, in order to promote Polish cultural and economic achievements that aim to develop contacts between Poland and the countries in which they live.

The Lane Kirkland Scholarship Program

The Lane Kirkland Scholarship Program is a program of the Polish-American Freedom Foundation, administered by the Polish-American Fulbright Commission. Its main purpose is to share Polish experiences in the field of system transformation as part of two-semester supplementary studies at Polish higher education institutions combined with 2-4-week internships in state and private institutions.

The Stanisław Grabski Scholarship Program

The Stanisław Grabski Scholarship Program is the assistance to students of Polish descent, coming from the former Soviet Union countries. The Wilno Foundation with the Program’s Partners has been providing it for years. The aid granted is not only of financial nature, but also aims to provide the opportunity to use different conferences, courses, trainings and internships.

Scholarship for Eastern Studies

It is also worth paying attention to Eastern Studies as the opportunities offered by the University of Warsaw. The competition for the “Specialist of Eastern Studies of the University of Warsaw” has been operating since 2011. They are two-year MA studies, for candidates from the countries of the former USSR and the former communist camp.

The Piotr Mroczyk Scholarship – UMCS

This is an extremely interesting scholarship program. This is a program of the scholarship fund of Peter Mrochyk, the last leader of the Polish radio “Free Europe”, who died in 2007. This Fund was created by the “Zacny Uczynek” Foundation as a recognition of education and science in the sphere of university life, and in particular their role in the aspect of deepening cooperation, eliminating divisions and existing inequalities among cultures and nations. The scholarship is directed to full-time MA and PhD students. Thanks to the sponsor of this scholarship, journalism is a prevailing direction, but the scholarship program is also intended for students of political sciences in international relations and philosophy students of the UMCS.
