Thanks to the exhibition which was organized by “Atelier.historyczni”, from September 8th to 10th of September the residents of Lublin had the opportunity to see costumes and jewellery from the twenties. The exhibition was organized in the Lublin Conference Center as one of the elements of East Fashion Festival. The Festival was attended by a large group of not only Polish but also foreign designers.
The twenties was the time of woman’s emancipation and also the time of great changes in their lives and image. Clothes, jewellery, shoes and pictures of design studios exposed on exhibition, have shown the woman’s way of fighting for their own social status. The characteristic in that times have began e.g. richly decorated short dresses without a waist, pants, interesting headgears, short cut hairstyles – named as“Tomboy’s” style. Eye and lip make up was really expressive. Smoking cigarettes by woman was also a very new situation. The newly established canons of fashion can go hand in hand in the end with increasing social status of woman.
I think that it was an amazing adventure in fashionable interwar years….
