Lublin City Bike is a self-service city bike system, which consists of a network of almost 1000 bicycles and 97 rental stations, located in Lublin and Świdnik. The stations are located in the most important parts of the city in such a way as to enable free communication not only within the city center, but also traveling to work, school or university from some distant district of Lublin.
The system functions on the seasonal basis and depends to a large extent on the weather. This means you will not be able to use the bikes for some ‘winter madness’. Below you’ll find an explanation in a nutshell how it all works 😉
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Register by choosing the most convenient option:
1. via the www.lubelskirower.pl website by clicking the “Register” button
2. being directly at the terminal,
3. via the free Nextbike mobile application (the app is available for Android, iOS and Windows Phone platforms),
In order to activate your account after the registration, you must top up with a minimum of 10 PLN (or add a credit card).
Rent a bike. For your convenience, there are 3 ways for renting a bicycle:
1. Rental directly at the terminal (YES, terminal is a gray column present at each station). At the terminal choose an option ‘Rent’ and follow the instructions on the screen. Enter your phone number, password and bike number. That’s it. Enjoy your ride!
2. You can also rent a bike via the mobile application. All you need to do is scan the bike’s QR code or manually enter it’s number. One click and you’re driving!
3. Another option to rent a bike is to contact the 24-hour LRM hotline. We recommend this option as the final one, eg in a situation where you have a problem with your account, application or terminal. The hotline may be occupied for a long time, so you probably will have to ‘hang on the line’ longer.
Give the bike. To return a bicycle, you do not even have to approach the terminal. All you need to do is put the bike in the electro-lock. The sound signal will confirm the correct return. If there is no stationary locks available at the station, use the cable lock provided to attach your bike to any loop on the rack or any other bicycle and shuffle the numbers on the lock. In this case, please return the bike manually:
– approach the terminal, press “Return” and follow the instructions on the display,
– make a return using the mobile application
– contact the 24/7 hotline at 81 464 66 00.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
In order to activate your profile, you’ll have to top up your account with a minimum amount of 10 PLN. This will enable you to make the first rent, since in order to keep your account active and be able to rent a bike you need to keep your account at a minimum level of 10 PLN.
What does the price list look like?
– The great thing is, that for the first 20 minutes of each rent you pay nothing – during this time you use the bike completely free of charge.
– For the next 40 minutes (meaning for a rent not exceeding one hour) you will pay only 1 PLN.
– The second hour costs 3 PLN.
– The third and each subsequent hour costs 4 PLN.
WHERE DOES IT WORK?
LRM is one of the Nextbike systems, an international company offering self-service urban bike systems. Nextbike in Poland has been operating since 2011 and since then has spread under various names to 45 Polish cities. Of course, the conditions for renting a bike in different cities may vary, but the strong principle remains that rentals not exceeding a dozen or even twenty minutes in Nextbike systems are always free of charge. For more see www.nextbike.pl.
INTERESTING FACTS:
1. For the convenience of the Lublin inhabitants, even those visiting the city only for some time, the LRM website www.lubelskirower.pl is available in 4 language versions: Polish, English, German and Russian.
2. In addition to standard bikes in the LRM system, you can also choose the so-called ‘Tandem’, meaning a bicycle for 2 people or a child’s bike (especially useful eg. for a family cycling trip to Zalew Zemborzycki).
