Open Integration

The “Open Integration” is a project that aims at supporting and integrating migrants within Polish society, by providing language courses, orientation weeks and summer schools for them. Participation in the project is open to all Third-Country Nationals (non-EU) students in Lublin. Project activities focus on facilitating the integration process of growing number of foreign students in the city.

In frames of the project there are following activities planned:

  1. Trainings in integration and cultural module
  2. Language courses
  3. Soft skills trainings needed at the labor market
  4. Organizing two editions of Orientation Week for foreign students
  5. Editing and distributing of the Newsletter directed to students (OPEN INTEGRATION NEWSLETTER)
  6. Organizing two editions of Summer School – “Protection of Migrants’ Rights”
  7. Actions of the assistant for integration and legislation
  8. Permanent integration support for foreign students thanks to the assistance of Polish students (guardian angels) on the basis of a “common room” at the University

The project is co-funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) and its duration is from February 2016 to January 2018. The budget of the project amounts to 742 650, 00 PLN, out of which 556 987, 50 PLN is funded by the AMIF. During these two years around 600 students will be able participate in “Open Integration” activities and gain necessary skills and knowledge for better integration into the community.

The Project is realized by the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (KUL) in cooperation with – The Open University KUL, The School of Polish Language and Culture KUL; Research Center for European Law and Migration Policy and KUL Department of Education. Administrative management and accounts of the project is dealt by the Department of Research and Development.
