The festival of Lublin legends

During summer Lublin becomes a fabulous city that hosts many different festivals. One of them is the “Legends of Lublin” festival. This year the festival was held on June 14th -15th. “Legends of Lublin” festival takes us to the fabulous world of unknown legends. The festival took place in the heart of the city.

 The Market Square and the nearest streets Błonia i Dziedziniec Zamkowy became the place for theatrical activities, walks around the Old town with guide in ancient costumes, workshops for children, outdoor games and artistic installations. During the entire festival, Lublin became a magical place, full of heroes from Lublin legends. The highlight of the festival was the building of the Crown Tribunal, from which windows huge octopus tentacles were seen. Another feature of this year’s festival was an exhibition done by a group of artists from Ukrainian city Lutsk.

The street games were the part of the festival program. The participants could take part in such games: “Unknown Lublin legends and other stories you do not know” and “Czart, Archangel, Gad i kamień”. The participants had to demonstrate not only the knowledge of the legends and the city’s topography, but also cleverness, agility, good ability of quick reaction. They had to solve puzzles, reach certain places hat were marked on the map and avoid hidden traps.

There were organized special events for families with children. One such event “Tańcobajki. Smoki, damy i rycerze” was performed at the Dominican church. That was an animated dance performance for children. The children took part in the events and had the opportunity to show their dance talents.

It is also worth mentioning that the secret “Legends of Lublin” that were presented in the scenery of the Old Town in two versions: for adults and children.
