Midpoint of Europe – visit to Bratislava

We had a great opportunity to visit the capital of Slovakia for a meeting organized by International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) as part of the FReM III project. Besides an intensive meeting with a fruitful conversations and discussions, we found some time to discover this beautiful city.
Our first thought was – “Is it really a capital city? No traffic jams, no overcrowded streets. Weird!” Bratislava reminded us of Lublin…
Indeed, comparing Bratislava to neighboring capital cities such as Vienna and Budapest, it is definitely more modest and cozy. However, it has its advantages! All attractions are located in the center: The Old Town is located a few hundred meters from the Danube river flowing through Bratislava. There are many attractions in the city among which are: Bratislavsky Hrad – a beautiful castle located on the hill, St. Marcin’s Church or Michalska Gate as must-see points to visit on the city map. In addition, many regional restaurants, bars, ice cream parlors along the narrow streets of Bratislava. Cumil – a Bratislava sewerman who watches over the city and its beautiful inhabitants and tourists.
Although it is a small city, you can write a lot about it. Bratislava is a city with many interesting legends and stories. If you are thinking about how to spend the weekend, we encourage you to visit Bratislava! Few days are enough to explore the city.
